ALPHARETTA - The Alpharetta City Council has approved a proposal allowing the outdoor sale and consumption of alcohol at certain events.
The ordinance passed unanimously Monday night. It takes effect immediately.
The Downtown Alpharetta Trade Association has pushed to change the city's alcohol laws in an effort to get more people downtown. The group sponsors a fall festival and other events, such as a farmers market.
In May, Alpharetta's City Council voted 7-0 to allow people dining out to bring their own bottle of wine.
