Forsyth Co. to open two new rec centers

By Staff
CUMMING - Forsyth County residents will now have three locations for recreational activities with the opening of two new recreation centers in the county this month.

The Old Atlanta Recreation Center and the Fowler Park Center have been undergoing simulatenous development ever since residents approved a Green Space Bond in 2008. Impact fees also have funded a portion of both projects.

Forsyth County spokeswoman Jodi Gardner said both centers boast approximately 40,000 square-feet of space with two basketball gyms each, along with an indoor walking track and fitness and dance studios.

In mid-March the new centers will also provide other extracurricular activities such as music classes, driving classes for teens and creative art programs, according to Gardner.

Ribbon cutting ceremonies are scheduled for the Old Atlanta Recreation Center across from Lambert High School on Wednesday, February 15 at 1:30 p.m. Similar ceremonies will be held for the Fowler Park Center on Monday, February 20 at 2:00 p.m.
