CLEVELAND - The White County Board of Commissioners has taken the second step in their search for a new county manager.
Former County Manager Carol Jackson announced in November that she was stepping down to accept a position with the Department of Justice. At that time, the commissioners called in retired and longtime county clerk Jean Welborn to serve as interim manager while they searched for a replacement for Jackson.
The commissioners received 30 applicants for the position, and they met in executive session Wednesday to discuss those applications and work out a plan of action for interviews with some of the candidates.
Welborn said the commissioners are expected to begin the interview process within the next two weeks.
