Cleveland teen the victim of White Co. crash

CLEVELAND - A Cleveland teenager has been identified as the victim of a one-car crash Thursday night in White County.

The Georgia State Patrol said it appears Kegan Drake Martin, 17, was driving east on Sandy Flats Road when his vehicle veered onto the shoulder of the road around 6:40 p.m.

Troopers said he overcorrected and the vehicle traveled across the road, hit an embankment and overturned. Martin was partially ejected from the vehicle and was killed. Troopers said he was not wearing a seat belt.

A passenger in the vehicle, 17-year-old Kayla Weaver of Cleveland, was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment of injuries.

Martin was a senior at White County High School, and White County Principal John Osborne said counselors from all of the White County schools were called to the high school Friday to be available to talk with the students.
