Legal expert tells teens ignorance no defense

GAINESVILLE - A former DeKalb County District Attorney who became a child advocate told his Lakeview Academy audience of students and parents in Gainesville Tuesday night that he was inspired to become an attorney by Atticus Finch. Finch is the Depression Era rural Alabama lawyer who struggles to seek justice for an innocent black man in Harper Lee's iconic novel, 'To Kill a Mocking Bird'.

To recognize that inspiration J. Tom Morgan, now a trial lawyer in Decatur, was presented with a copy of the novel, celebrating its golden anniversary. Morgan was inspired during his career as a prosecutor to do something else
