ATHENS - Outbursts dominated a brief, yet intense, court hearing on Thursday for Jamie Hood, the man accused of gunning down a police officer a year ago.
Hood is charged with killing Athens-Clark County Police Officer Buddy Christian and shooting amd wounding Officer Tony Howard in March 2011. His trial has been slow to start due to many previous outbursts in court.
On Thursday, Hood attempted to get his court-appointed defense attorneys removed from his case. The hearing was being held because Hood is arguing that the trial judge,David Sweat, should be excused from the case.
Hood continually interrupted Sweat during the hearing.
Neither issue was resolved during Thursday's hearing. The judge hoped another court hearing would be held by the end of the month.
