Items from defunct Angel Food Ministries to be auctioned

By Staff
MONROE - Items from the defunct Angel Food Ministries of north Georgia will be sold at auction Saturday in Monroe.

The company that was founded almost 17-years ago by Joseph and Linda Wingo grew into a nationwide ministry that sold low-cost food through a network of churches, including dozens in the northeast Georgia area.

The non-profit closed last year and the Wingos were accused in a federal indictment of siphoning millions of dollars from the agency.

Items for auction will come from the Angel Food Ministries warehouse and Emmanuel Praise Church. Among the items to be auctioned are forklifts, pallets, restaurant equipment, tables, chairs and sanctuary equipment.

The auction is to begin at 10:00 a.m. at 690 Unisia Drive in Monroe. The auction moves to 1620 S. Broad Street later in the day.
