ATLANTA (AP) The interim leader of Georgia Perimeter College has told employees that 282 workers will be laid off.
A campus-wide email sent by Georgia Perimeter Interim President Rob Watts says the cuts affect 215 full-time employees and 67 part-time workers. The college employs about 3,110 people.
The two-year school is trying to cope with what could be a $25 million deficit next year.
State auditors are analyzing the college's financial records to understand how the school's deficit grew so large.
Georgia Perimeter is the state's third-largest public college, teaching nearly 27,000 students at sites in Alpharetta, Clarkston, Covington, Decatur and Dunwoody.
