Flash flood watch posted in parts of northeast Ga.

By The Associated Press
ATLANTA (AP) Some parts of northeast Georgia are under a flash flood watch as forecasters expect heavy rain over the next two days.

The National Weather Service issued the watch Monday for Habersham and Rabun counties northeast of Gainesville. Forecasters say 2.5 to 3 inches of rainfall is expected through Tuesday for parts of Georgia north of Cartersville and Gainesville.

Weather service forecasters in Peachtree City say the rest of northern Georgia should receive 2 to 2.5 inches of rain over the next two days.

Georgia needs the rainfall to help make up for what's been an unusually dry year. But the weather service says minor flooding will be possible in areas that get a deluge of rain all at once.
