CLAYTON - Rabun County authorities have confirmed that the human remains discovered September 15 are those of a missing Kennesaw man.
Rabun County Sheriff Frank Andrews said that his office received confirmation of the identity from the Georgia Bureau of Investigations Division of Forensic Science on Friday. The family of Richard Arnold Masters was contacted after the identity was confirmed.
The remains were discovered Saturday, September 15 by a resident walking in the area of the Bartram Trail near Darnell Creek. Authorities said Masters was believed to have entered the area earlier in the summer and had not intended to be discovered.
The Rabun County Sheriff's Office said it does not suspect foul play; however, the case is still under investigation.
