Lawmakers set listening sessions for education

DAHLONEGA - Members of the Georgia House and Senate Education committees have scheduled a series of education listening sessions across the state, and Tuesday they will be in north Georgia.

State Rep. Kevin Tanner of Dawsonville and State Sen. Steve Gooch of Dahlonega will host the listening session at the University of North Georgia's Dahlonega campus on October 8.

The agenda for the meetings will be as follows, according to a letter from the chairmen of both the House and Senate Education Committees.

3 p.m.-4 p.m. Meeting with area school superintendents

4:15 p.m.-5:15 p.m. Meeting with local board of education members

6:30 p.m.-9 p.m. Listening session for superintendents, board of education
members, teachers, parents, and other members of the community

In additon to the meeting in Dahlonega, lawmakers have also scheduled a similar session on Thursday, October 10 at Georgia Gwinnett College in Lawrenceville.
