WAYCROSS (AP) - The Georgia Bureau of Investigation will examine a fatal shooting involving Waycross police.
Mayor Clarence Billups said two police officers were involved in the shooting Friday evening.
Billups said the two officers went to a home to investigate a report of a person threatening suicide. Billups told The Florida Times-Union that those police officers were confronted by a man armed with a knife. He refused commands to put down the weapon.
The man then lunged at police, who opened fire.
GBI officials will investigate the fatal shooting, which is standard procedure.
