DULUTH - At last report, three adults remained in jail in Gwinnett County after police found two toddlers left alone in filthy conditions in a Duluth home Friday night.
The Gwinnett Daily Post reported that Gwinnett County police officers were called by a concerned neighbor, and when they arrived at the house on Inverloch Circle in Duluth, they found a 2-year-old boy strapped into an unpadded car seat. The toddler's 1-year-old sister was unattended in a cardboard-bottomed play pen. No one else was in the home.
Police reports indicated both children were soaked in urine and wearing very soiled diapers. The 2-year-old boy reportedly had diaper rash so severe it had produced open sores.
The report also said cockroaches and a bottle of bleach was on the floor by the refrigerator.
Felicia Ekhart, the grandmother who had custody of the children, along with her 19-year-old son and her boyfriend were arrested in the case. All three face a long list of charges. The children were taken into protective custody.
