Johns Creek police offer defense class for women

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. (AP) Johns Creek police officers are offering a free safety and self-defense class for women.

The class, set for Tuesday evening in the suburban Atlanta city, is aimed at teaching women to be aware of their surroundings and offer tips for fighting off assailants.

Johns Creek police said in a statement that the classes are taught by Sgt. Debbie Kalish and Sgt. Ben Finley. Both are experienced defensive tactics instructors.

The upcoming class is set for 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Johns Creek police headquarters at 11445 Johns Creek Parkway. Space is limited.
