Baby found alone at home, Buford parents arrested

By Staff
BUFORD - A Buford couple is in jail after police say they left their 5-month-old baby home alone last week.

Neighbors called Gwinnett County police Friday, saying that Kelly Griffin was stumbling badly as she and her husband, Sean Griffin, left their home on Sardis Ridge Court.

When authorities arrived at the home, they found the baby girl lying on the floor. A police report indicated that the house was cluttered and that glasses with alcohol and cigarette butts were found in a bedroom where the baby's crib was located.

Gwinnett Police Cpl. Jake Smith told Atlanta TV stations that the Griffins were found at nearby Ivey Creek Elementary School, where they had gone to pick up two other children.

Smith said Kelly Griffin was inside the school and appeared disoriented. He said police found several Xanax tablets in her possession.

Sean Griffin was in the couple's car outside the school.

Smith said the police report indicated the two argued as they were being taken into custody about who had left the baby at the house.

At last report, the Griffins remained in jail. There are conflicting reports about the placement of the children.
