Bond denied for Gwinnett teen in shoe robbery, murder

By The Associated Press
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (AP) Bond has been denied for a teenage boy accused in the shooting death of a teen authorities say was targeted because of expensive shoes.

The 15-year-old suspect appeared Monday in Gwinnett County Superior Court and a judge said evidence indicated he was a danger to the community.

Authorities say 14-year-old Paul Sampleton was shot at his house Dec. 19. Police found him bound and gagged and said several expensive pairs of shoes including ones he was wearing that day were stolen.

Two other boys, ages 15 and 18, have also been arrested in the teen's death.

Stephanie Stone, Sampleton's mother, told Channel 2 Action News she hopes the teen and his alleged accomplices spend a lot of time in jail.
