Autopsy planned for Columbus State student

By The Associated Press
COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) An autopsy is planned to learn more about the cause of death for a Columbus State University student who went into cardiac arrest in downtown Columbus dorm room.

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan said 19-year-old Giselle Ortiz was pronounced dead at a hospital after she was stricken around 10:22 a.m. Saturday.

Bryan tells The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer that Ortiz was in her dorm, complained about not feeling well and went into cardiac arrest. Bryan said she was taking medication for lupus.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Ortiz was a music education student, who graduated last year from McEachern High School in Powder Springs. She had played trombone at the high school in Atlanta's northwest suburbs.
