DAWSONVILLE - Dawson County Sheriff's Office authorities said the county's chief tax appraiser has been arrested on misdemeanor drug charges.
Michael Joseph Roberts, 36, was arrested Tuesday afternoon when authorities said they received a tip of a vehicle parked in the courthouse parking lot that smelled like marijuana.
"We investigated, determined the smell was believed to be marijuana and then used a narcotics K-9 which alerted on the vehicle," said DCSO spokesman Tony Wooten.
Roberts was taken into custody at the courthouse.
He was charged with possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and possession of a drug-related object.
Roberts has been released from custody on a $2,200 bond.
