Homeowners want to know who will clean up after Lake Alice dam break

By Staff
CUMMING - The Environmental Protection Division and the City of Cumming are investigating following a recent dam break that sent garbage and polluted water into Lake Lanier in the Little Ridge Creek area.

The break apparently occurred just before Memorial Day weekend, as a result of recent heavy rains, and homeowners in the area said the water in Lake Lanier turned orange because of the pollution that flowed downstream from the smaller lake. In addition, those homeowners have reported seeing old tires and other debris that floated downstream from Lake Alice.

The question now, according to those homeowners, is who will clean up the mess. So far, there's been no consensus on who is responsible.
