Cleveland Highway house destroyed by fire

GAINESVILLE - A house on Cleveland Highway in the Clermont area was destroyed by fire Thursday morning.

Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell said his crews were called to the scene just after 9 a.m. and remained on the scene for a little over an hour.

He said the 1,400 square-foot house, located on Cleveland Highway near Whitmire Circle, was a total loss.

The cause of the fire appeared to be electrical in nature, although Kimbrell said an investigator would return to the site later in the day Thursday to research the fire in more depth.

Kimbrell said no one was home at the time of the fire.
