Hall County reports fourth rabies case of 2013

GAINESVILLE - Hall County is reporting its fourth confirmed rabies case of the year.

Animal Control officials said a rabid raccoon came into contact with a dog in the Bills Circle area of north Hall County this week; the Georgia Public Health Lab confirmed rabies infection Thursday.

Positive alert signs have been posted in the area where the rabid animal was found.

As always, Animal Control officials warn if you live in an affected area or you see an animal acting abnormally, contact Hall County Animal Services at 770-531-6830 or during non-working hours call Hall County Dispatch at 770-536-8812.

Animal owners are encouraged to vaccinate their domesticated pets for rabies. Vaccines are available at the Hall County Animal Shelter for $10 Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 1688 Barber Road in Gainesville.
