National video in the works that would showcase Hall County

GAINESVILLE - Hall County Commissioners recently reviewed an agreement with a producer to shoot a conference TV video featuring Hall County that would get national exposure.

County Administrator Randy Knighton told commissioners the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) has approached the county about taking part in a video to be shown at the association's national conference in Boston, Massachusetts this year.

Knighton said the county would contract with WebsEdge Ltd. for $22,500 to shoot the video which would also appear on the ICMA national and international websites and web portals.

"It would highlight the positive attributes of Hall County and would provide a potential marketing opportunity not only for individuals but also for businesses that would be contemplating Hall County as a location," Knighton said. "It would, of course, also be for citizens across the country who would consider visiting Hall County."

Knighton said the commission would need to approve a contract with the producer. Knighton assured commissioner Craig Lutz that Hall County would be guaranteed to be featured in the video.

"I don't want to go through the expense of the video and not have the county featured," Lutz said.

Knighton also assured commissioners the county would maintain editorial rights.

"Essentially, the end product would be what we determine and we would also maintain rights for the footage shot here in Hall County," Knighton said. "That would probably be about two and a half to three hours of total footage."

Commissioner Scott Gibbs pointed out the video could be used to support economic development.

Knighton said the video would be shot between now and the first of September, with the county coordinating shooting dates to assure appropriate shooting sites and venues. He added the video could also serve as an opportunity to unveil a new logo or revised logo for Hall County.
