ATLANTA - The Georgia State Patrol has announced a long list of charges for a Nicholson man following a two-car accident this past Friday that killed a Toccoa man and seriously injured his brother.
Investigators said Alex Clay Fortson, 50, has been charged with hit and run, failure to maintain lane, DUI, and 1st-degree vehicular homicide.
Troopers said the crash occurred on Friday, June 14 at 7:20 a.m. as Fortson was traveling northbound on Friendship Church Road. They said he failed to maintain his lane and crossed the center line, striking a southbound vehicle being driven by Roy O'Barr, 25, of Toccoa. O'Barr died on the scene.
His brother, Nathan O'Barr, 25, of Mount Airy was a passenger in the vehicle; he was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center. There is no word on his condition.
