Additional details released in White County arson, vandalism case

By Dean Dyer WRWH Radio
CLEVELAND - White County authorities say it was a combination of things that led to the arrest Friday of two suspects in connection with an arson and vandalism case.

The incident occurred Wednesday night at The Pickin' Barn behind Mitch Simpson Motors, south of Cleveland. White County Sheriff Neal Walden announced the arrests Friday afternoon.

White County Chief Deputy Bob Ingram said Monday morning some good investigative efforts, along with video and information from witnesses, all led to the arrest of a 14-year-old juvenile, whose name is being withheld; and 18-year-old Dakota Russell Garrett of Dahlonega.

Ingram said each suspect has been charged with three counts of burglary, one count of criminal damage to property, and one count of arson.

According to Ingram, investigators still are looking at other such incidents in the area to see if the two are responsible, so additional charges are possible.

Garrett was booked into the White County Detention Center, and the juvenile was taken to the Regional Youth Detention Center in Gainesville.
