Cleveland hit hard by storm

By Dean Dyer
CLEVELAND- A late afternoon thunderstorm dumped heavy rain, along with high wind and pea-sized hail, on the city of Cleveland Wednesday.

The storm rolled in from northeast of the city, and covered much of the southern part of the county by the time it exited.

According to Cleveland Fire Chief Ricky Pruitt, trees were blown down, knocking out power in the majority of the city. In one case, a tree fell on a house and punched a small hole in the roof, said Pruitt.

Numerous city streets were flooded due to the large amount of rain that fell in a short period of time; around 1 ½ inches of rain fell in about twenty minutes.

No injuries were reported as a result of the storm.
