ATLANTA (AP) -- A blast of wintry weather is expected to dive south into Georgia, dropping temperatures into the 20s in parts of north Georgia.
The National Weather Service projects low temperatures Friday and Saturday morning from the mid-20s to lower 30s in north Georgia; and from the upper 20s to upper 30s in central Georgia.

Daytime highs Friday are expected to be in the 40s and 50s across much of the state.

The weather service said the coldest temperatures are expected after a cold front moves across Georgia on Wednesday.

It is part of a larger system that brought wintry weather to parts of the Rockies and Upper Midwest Monday, leaving a foot of snow in some areas.
Mild temperatures were expected Tuesday, with a high in Atlanta of around 72 degrees.
