GAINESVILLE - Gainesville police and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said a shooting death on West Avenue Wednesday night is a case of murder.<br />

Gainesville Police Cpl. Joe Britte said Thursday authorities are looking for the person responsible for the shooting death of 21-year-old Daniel Cornejo.<br />

"At this point, it's still an open investigation. We're still trying to seek leads," said Britte.<br />

The incident happened around 10 p.m. in the 700 block of West Avenue.<br />
<br />
Britte acknowledged that there had been other murders in the West Avenue area in recent months, but he said this incident had nothing to do with the others.<br />
<br />
"There's no connection to any other shootings on West Avenue," said Britte. "It is unfortunate that this is the third death on West Avenue, but this is a whole separate investigation."<br />
