More than a dozen horses die in Woodstock fire

By The Associated Press
WOODSTOCK, Ga. (AP) Authorities say more than a dozen horses died in a barn fire in Cherokee County on Thanksgiving Day.

Channel 2 Action News reported that the blaze destroyed the barn at New Vintage Farm in Woodstock Thursday morning.

Owner Karen McGoldrick tells the television station barns are very susceptible to fires because there are a lot of flammable materials, including hay to feed the horses and wood shavings.

Investigators say the cause of the fire wasn't immediately known. Firefighters were expecting to find hot spots for days because the barn was so big.
