SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) State health officials confirm two people have died from the flu in coastal Georgia. <br />

The Coastal Health District of the Georgia Department of Public Health said Monday the people who died were both women aged 65 or older. One lived in Chatham County, while the other was from neighboring Effingham County. No other information about the women's deaths was released. <br />

Health officials say there have been a total of seven flu-related deaths across Georgia since the season began Oct. 1. They say flu shots still offer the best protection against infection, even if they don't protect against every strain of flu.
