OAKWOOD - No injuries were reported when a small apartment building next to a pet grooming business in Oakwood caught fire early Thursday morning
Hall County Deputy Chief Chad Black said the crews responded to the call on Atlanta Highway at Old Plainview Road around 7 a.m. A two-story apartment attached to a pet grooming business was showing heavy fire and smoke from the basement apartment to the rear of the business.

"When they arrived at the scene, they found a pet grooming business... and behind it was a two story, 1200 square foot apartment building," said Black. "Heavy fire coming from the basement apartment... they were able to make an aggressive interior attack, while at the same time, other crews were protecting the grooming business and also assisting in removing about 15 to 20 pets for a brief period of time until they got the fire controlled."

Black said three people living in the apartments were displaced. Neither the occupants, firefighters or pets were injured in the fire.

Crews were able to keep the fire from spreading to the business as well, and Black said the business should be able to open today.
Fire investigators are still on the scene determining the cause.
