UNDATED - Once again, counties and cities across north Georgia are participating in the Bring One for the Chipper campaign, coordinated by Keep Georgia Beautiful.

Residents who used cut Christmas trees can drop off undecorated trees for recycling at designated locations through the end of January. The trees will be chipped and used for mulch in projects such as playgrounds, government beautification efforts and even private yards and gardens.

Keep Georgia Beautiful said an estimated six million Christmas trees have been recycled since the agency began the "Chipper" program.

Trees that have been stripped of lights, ornaments and stands may be dropped off at designated locations between December 26, 2014 and January 31, 2015.

The traditional seedling giveaway in exchange for donations is not happening statewide this year; however, some governments - such as the city of Suwanee - have ordered the seedlings from the Georgia Forestry Commission to distribute in exchange for an undecorated tree. The seedling exchange date is January 3, 2015 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please check with individual drop sites for details. (See link below.)
