Authorities file charges in child's death

CUMMING - Charges have now been filed in connection with the death of a 3-year-old child from Forsyth County.

Forsyth County authorities said Christopher Truett, 25, of Butts County faces charges of cruelty to children in the first degree and reckless conduct. He was babysitting for Wyatt Pruitt, his girlfriend's son, when the child was found unresponsive at a home in the Bridgetowne subdivision off Brown's Bridge Road.

The little boy was pronounced dead at the hospital Tuesday at 11:45 a.m.

An autopsy is being performed on the child, and Truett could face more charges, depending on those results.

Authorities said Truett had been dating the child's mother for about a month.
