Rabid skunk attacks dog outside animal shelter

By Dean Dyer WRWH Radio
CLEVELAND - White County Animal Control officials report another rabies case in the county.

Pat Cooper, animal control officer, reports the latest case occurred Wednesday at the county's animal shelter in the White County Industrial Park south of Cleveland.

Cooper said they let some dogs out in an outdoor area for exercise when one of the dogs was attacked by a skunk. The skunk was killed and test results showed it had rabies.

This is the third confirmed rabies case this year in White County.

Cooper said the incident is a good reminder to all pet owners to keep rabies shots up to date on cats and dogs.
