MACON, Ga. (AP) - Police say a man who surrendered on an involuntary manslaughter charge over the weekend told investigators that he accidentally shot his cousin.
Bibb County sheriff's officials say 27-year-old Dominick Kantrel Howell was sitting behind his cousin in a car that was stopped in a strip mall parking lot on Friday night.
Authorities say Howell told investigators he was uncomfortable with the gun in his waistband and put it on his lap. Howell told them the gun began to slip and he accidentally pulled the trigger when he caught it and shot 21-year-old Cedric Recardo Patrick Jr. in his back.
It's unclear if Howell has an attorney.
