JEFFERSON - A Talmo man is being held in the Jackson County Jail without bond after being arrested Monday on charges stemming from a domestic violence investigation.

According to Jackson County Sheriff Janus Mangum, the investigation began on May 25th when deputies from Jackson County were called to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville to meet with a female, said to be the victim of domestic violence.

The victim, whose identity has not been released, told authorities that she had been repeatedly abused by her live-in boyfriend, later identified as 21-year-old Gary Michael Elliott, over the course of the previous three months. The deputies would go on to report that the victim had numerous cuts, bruises, cigarette burns and stab wounds covering a large portion of her body.

As the investigation continued to unfold, the Sheriff's Office was able to obtain a search warrant for Elliott's home. Mangum said that evidence corroborating the victim's report, along with quantities of marijuana, methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia, were discovered inside the home during the course of the search.

Following his arrest on Monday, Elliott was charged with two counts of family violence simple assault, family violence battery, family violence false imprisonment, possession of marijuana and possession of methamphetamine as a result of the investigation. Mangum added that Elliott also had two outstanding probation violation warrants against him at the time of his arrest.

Mangum emphasized that citizens are encouraged to notify their local law enforcement agencies of any suspicious persons, crimes or other relevant information by calling 911 or the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.
