ATLANTA (AP) Forecasters have issued a flash flood warning for part of north Georgia as a thunderstorm moves through the area.

The National Weather Service is warning that flash flooding is possible in Gilmer County until around 3:45 p.m. Monday. Forecasters say between 1 .5 and 4 inches of rain had fallen in parts of the county since Sunday.

Forecasters say recent rain has already caused minor flooding at several creeks and streams in Gilmer County.

The National Weather Service says the storm packing heavy rain, frequent lightning and high winds is also expected to cause ponding on roads in the metro Atlanta area and could produce pea-sized hail.
Forecaster say the storm is moving southeast at about 30 mph.
