White County seeks people to serve

CLEVELAND - The White County Board of Commissioners is looking for people who really care about their county and will step forward and accept a position on one of the county's volunteer boards. <br /> <br /> There are openings for positions on the White County YMCA Board, White County Building Authority, and the Region 1 Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities Planning Board.<br /> <br /> For the YMCA board, the one-year appointee must be able to attend meetings on the last Thursday of every other month at 4:30 p.m. at the White County Parks YMCA. <br /> <br /> For the White County Building Authority, the appointee will be for a three-year term expiring Dec. 31, 2017, and will represent the board of commissioners in facilitating public projects of White County on an as-needed basis. <br /> <br /> The Region 1 Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities Planning Board appointee must be a consumer of disability services, a family member of a consumer, an advocate of disability services, a local leader, or a business person with an interest in mental health, developmental disabilities, and addictive diseases. The appointee must be able to attend board meetings on the second Thursday of every other month in Ball Ground at 1 p.m. <br /> <br /> Those who think they might fit one of these positions can obtain an application at the Board of Commissioners Office, 1235 Helen Hwy., Cleveland, or online at www.whitecounty.net and click Volunteer Boards under Useful Links. <br /> <br /> Those with questions can contact County Clerk Shanda Murphy at (706) 865-2235.
