GAINESVILLE - Hall County District 3 Commissioner Scott Gibbs has been appointed to the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) Board by Governor Nathan Deal. <br />

The Department of Community Affairs promotes and implements community and economic development, local government assistance and safe and affordable housing. The board is made up of 19 members with 14 representing Georgia's congressional districts and five members serving at-large.<br />

"I am honored to serve the citizens of Hall County and the State of Georgia in this new capacity," Commissioner Gibbs said. "I look forward to being a part of the great work that this board does as it works to spur private job creation, planning and development, affordable housing solutions and volunteerism throughout the state."<br />

In addition, he will also serve on the Georgia Housing and Finance Authority, whose various programs are administered by DCA.<br />
<br />
Gibbs, a Hall County native, began his first term on the Hall County Board of Commissioners in January 2011. Gibbs serves on the Hall County Soil & Water Board as well as the Hall '96 Olympic Venue Committee.<br />
