GAINESVILLE - For the first time in many years the greatest need for Meals on Wheels in Gainesville is not money. It's volunteers.

Meals on Wheels Coordinator, Milon Christman, says money is available to provide meals to older adults, but the agency doesn't have the volunteers to deliver them.

"We are good right now financially, but we are in desperate need of about 50 volunteers who have an hour or more each week, or even once a month, to deliver meals, Christman said. "We are delivering 300 meals a day and around 8,000 meals a month.
Volunteer opportunities include helping with the meal prep in the kitchen or actually delivering meals. More than 200 people currently volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
