CLEVELAND - One person was taken for treatment and White County fire investigators are probing an early-morning blaze that destroyed a residence Tuesday morning.

White County Public Safety Director David Murphy provided details.

"A neighbor called 9-1-1 to report the blaze at 735 Holiness Campground Road at 4:47 a.m.," Murphy said. Arriving units found fire in the first floor of the house.

According to Murphy, there were people in the home at the time.

"There were at least four occupants to the house," Murphy said. "One had to be transported for smoke inhalation, but all injuries are minor."

The American Red Cross was called to assist the residents with immediate needs.

Murphy said fire investigators are looking for the cause, but added "there are some suspicious nature to the fire."
Several White County and Cleveland fire units responded to battle the blaze, and they were assisted by Georgia Department of Corrections Station 1 from Lee Arrendale State Prison in Alto.
