SUWANEE -- North Cobb surged ahead with 35 seconds remaining to nab a 36-29 win over North Gwinnett on Friday in Suwanee.
One week after knocking off previously No. 1-ranked McEachern, the Bulldogs (1-1) battled back and forth with North Cobb -- and nearly pulled off another late comeback, moving to the North Cobb 20. But the Bulldogs could not convert a last-ditch pass into the end zone that fell incomplete to seal the game.
North Gwinnett put up 388 yards of offense, including 273 yards though the air. Quarterback John Urzua finished 19 of 30 for 229 yards but had no touchdowns and one interception.
Almonzo Brown and Ayinde Russell each caught touchdowns for the Bulldogs, while Cameron Pickett carried eight times for 49 yards and two touchdowns.
The Bulldogs will travel to face Hillgrove next week.
