Hall County crews battle small house fire on Sardis Rd.

GAINESVILLE - No injuries were reported Thursday evening following a small structure fire in the North Hall area.
 
Deputy Fire Chief Chad Black with Hall County Fire Services said crews were first dispatched to the residence on Sardis Road near Green Valley Drive just after 4 p.m.
 
Upon arrival, crews discovered a small fire with smoke emanating from the home's basement. Due to the relatively minor extent of the fire, firefighters were able to extinguish the flames in a short amount of time.
 
Black said the fire, which appears to have been caused by an electrical issue around the oven, caused roughly $50,000 in damages to the home.
 
The residence carried an initial value of $145,000.
