LAWRENCEVILLE — Gwinnett County police have released the name of the woman who was struck and killed on Pleasant Hill Road in Lawrenceville Monday night.
The incident happened just after 6 p.m.
Cpl. Deon Washington said the wreck occurred in front of Corley Elementary School as 76-year-old Sarah Grindinger of Lawrenceville tried to make her way across the road to a furniture store. He said she was struck by two vehicles and died at the scene.
Investigators said both drivers stopped. They were questioned by police and then were released to go home.
Washington said in a press release that Grindinger was apparently crossing the roadway against a "Do Not Cross" signal.
He said Grindinger's death is the fourth pedestrian fatality in Gwinnett County in less than a month.
