North Ga. Tech students honored by Ga. Professional Photographers Assn.

CLARKESVILLE - North Georgia Technical College photography students were top winners at the recent Georgia Professional Photographers Association state convention.

“We stood very proud,” said Jeff Gulle, NGTC photography instructor. “North Georgia Tech won most of the awards, and it was so rewarding to see our current students and alumni have their skills and hard work not only recognized, but honored with high marks! It will be tough to beat next year.”

Students Jordan Thomas received the Student Photographer of the Year Award and Frank Zayas earned second place in landscape.

NGTC Professional Lab Assistant Georgia Zumwalt won first place in commercial and portrait of a woman; the Dick Dickerson Award for most improved; the Kodak Gallery Award; second place in photojournalism; and four third places in photojournalism, abstract, fine art and commercial.

NGTC instructors Jim Loring won first place in photojournalism and Jeff Gulle won first place for landscape, the Lexjet Sunset Award, the American Society of Photographers Award, the Certified Professional Photographers Award, and two second place awards for portrait of a man and commercial categories.

"The success of the photographers who are a part of the NGTC photography program prove the quality of instruction at NGTC is top notch,” said Zumwalt. “We are all very proud to be a part of this fine program.”
