Forecasters say more rain is headed to Georgia, where many parts of the state are still dealing with flood waters from earlier storms.
The National Weather Service says rain is expected to develop early Wednesday, with the heaviest expected over north Georgia. Forecast totals include 1.86 inches in Gainesville, 1.83 in Dahlonega and 1.34 inches in Blairsville.
Parts of north Georgia have been especially hard-hit by flooding. In Gordon County, divers on Monday recovered the body of a man whose car was swept away by floodwaters. Gordon County Chief Deputy Robert Paris said authorities believe the man was driving Saturday afternoon when floodwaters overtook his car.
Forecasters say an additional 1 to 2 inches of rain is expected over much of north Georgia with Wednesday's rain. A flood watch covers north Georgia until 7 a.m. Thursday.
Meanwhile, the level of Lake Lanier stood at 1074.20 Tuesday morning, up another two-thirds of a foot from Monday morning.
