ATHENS - A former student at the University of Georgia has been formally indicted on charges that he made threats against the Miller Learning Center at UGA.

The indictments were levied this week charging Ariel Arias, 19, of Lilburn with four counts of terroristic threats. The Athens-Banner Herald reported that each count could carry five years in prison.

The incident happened last September when a threat was made against a campus building over social media. Police quickly tracked down Arias and arrested him. He reportedly told investigators it was all just a joke.

Arias was banned from Clarke County following a bond hearing in September. He also was expelled from the University of Georgia.
