Male pedestrian killed on interstate north of Atlanta

ATLANTA (AP) Authorities are urging motorists to stay off eastbound Interstate 285 north of Atlanta after a pedestrian crossing the roadway was struck and killed. <br />

Sandy Springs Police Sgt. Ron Momon says the man was involved in an accident around 4:30 a.m. on Friday and was crossing the interstate when he was hit. The man's name was not released pending notification of his family. <br />
<br />
Georgia Department of Transportation spokeswoman Annalysce Baker says the eastbound side of the interstate was closed for several hours to allow authorities to investigate. <br />
<br />
The DOT expects the interstate to re-open by 9 a.m.
