State of emergency declared ahead of winter storm

ATLANTA - Governor Nathan Deal has declared a state of emergency for disaster preparedness in 50 north Georgia counties ahead of a winter storm that is expected to arrive on Wednesday.

Deal has ordered that the state of emergency go into effect starting at 2 p.m. Wednesday. He also announced that all state government offices in areas affected by the storm will be closing their doors at noon that same day.
