GAINESVILLE -- Riverside Military Academy announced today that Kelly Davis will take over the Eagles football program, as coach Gary Downs leaves to accept a position at East Tennessee State.
Davis was unanimously selected as Downs' replacement by a panel of Riverside Colonel Dr. James Benson (school president), Lt. Col. Seth Hathaway, and Downs himself.
Downs leaves the Eagles after three seasons in charge and compiling a 10-20 record.
The change marks the fifth among area football programs this offseason -- Apalachee, Dawson County, Habersham Central and Jackson County will also begin the 2015 campaign with new head coaches.
