GAINESVILLE - The North Georgia Community Foundation Board of Directors has voted to create its first affiliate foundation – the Forsyth County Community Foundation.
The North Georgia Community Foundation, which serves 15 counties in northeast Georgia, has sought ways to have more of an impact in the communities it serves. The creation of the Forsyth County Community Foundation is part of that effort.
“Creating the Forsyth County Community Foundation allows us to better serve the needs of the Forsyth County community and allows donors to focus their charitable giving in their own community,” said NGCF President & CEO Jim Mathis. “This affiliate foundation will allow us to work closely with a group of local volunteer leaders to increase charitable giving and take the lead on critical issues impacting needs in the Cumming-Forsyth community.”
The Forsyth County Community Foundation will be governed by the North Georgia Community Foundation board of directors and will have a local advisory board.
Advisory committee members are Mary Helen McGruder, Jack Allen, Phill Bettis, Jayne Iglesias, Lynn Jackson, James McCoy, David Seago, Jeff Stephens and Kevin Tallant.
The advisory board will work with the NGCF staff and board to focus on serving the charitable needs of Forsyth County and the charitable interests of the donors. The advisory board will focus on raising funds and determining the best way to grant dollars back into their community, while NGCF handles the administration, investment and daily tasks.
“The founding members saw the possibilities in creating a vehicle to receive donations and bequests to benefit the Forsyth County community and believed that affiliating with the North Georgia Community Foundation would be the support mechanism they needed to get the fund established,” Mathis said. “The Forsyth County Community Foundation exists because of their vision and determination, and NGCF is proud to support them.”
